In the past, good manners were essential for survival. In the Edo Period, even lower-ranking samurai had the right to kill commoners who offended them. Today, good manners are still considered an important aspect of personal character, and a person's manners are believed to reflect their inner self. However, the author of this passage is worried that their American manners will not be well received by their landlady. They fear that she will be disappointed in them after inviting them to tea in her Japanese-style room.

 TikTok creators have developed a habit of using alternative words in place of those that they believe may affect the promotion of their videos on the site or violate moderation rules.

Some of these creators claim to be part of the "leg booty" community and oppose the use of "cornucopia." This language may sound unfamiliar to some, but it is a kind of slang used on the platform.

 In our blog post entry this week, we'll be exploring a disturbing article. 22 officers at Nagoya Prison were found to have abused roommates. 

According to the article, it states: "Twenty-two officers at Nagoya Prison repeatedly assaulted inmates from November last year to this August by spraying their faces with alcohol and hitting them on their buttocks with sandals, the Justice Ministry said Friday."

This is concerning because prison is a place where inmates are supposed to reflect on their sentence, but being punished further without any issues.

 This week, we will be exploring Japanese news once again. This article is about "Japan to include 'counterstrike capability in key security documents"

This is important because on a military front, being able to target these documents is very smart.

Usually, Japan is a neutral country with military action, so this won't be a major affector on the social issues but it definitely has repercussions.
